Viscount Knollys
Viscount Knollys , of Caversham in the County of Oxford , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
The family's ancestral home is Bramerton Hall near Norwich in Norfolk . The name Knollys is pronounced “Noles” [noəlz].
Award and subordinate titles
The title was created on July 4, 1911 for Francis Knollys, 1st Baron Knollys . He had been the private secretary of the British King Edward VII from 1870 , initially as the Prince of Wales and thus heir to the throne, then during his reign. He had already been awarded the subordinate title of Baron Knollys , of Caversham in the County of Oxford, on July 21, 1902 .
Today's title holder is his grandson David Knollys as 3rd Viscount.
