Earl of Ranfurly
Earl of Ranfurly , of Dungannon in the County of Tyrone , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
The Earls family home is Maltings Chase in Nayland , Essex .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was awarded on September 14, 1831 to Thomas Knox, 2nd Viscount Northland , who had previously represented County Tyrone in the Irish and later in the British House of Commons for many years .
The Earl had inherited the subordinate titles Baron Welles , of Dungannon in the County of Tyrone, and Viscount Northland , of Dungannon in the County of Tyrone, from his father in 1818 , which he inherited on January 16, 1781 and July 5, respectively 1791 were awarded in the Peerage of Ireland. In addition, he had already been awarded the subordinate title Baron Ranfurly , of Ramphorlie in the County of Renfrew on July 6, 1826 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom . This British title, unlike its Irish, entitled to a seat in the House of Lords . The respective Heir Apparent has the courtesy title Viscount Northland .
