Visions for Children eV is a German association that was founded in 2006 in Hamburg. The work of Visions for Children eV focuses on improving the educational opportunities of children, especially in crisis regions. Students and professionals from different areas work mostly on a voluntary basis for the association. With their work they have so far implemented projects in Afghanistan, Uganda, Togo and Sri Lanka. The association is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) and does not work through third parties. The previous projects were u. a. supported by the German rapper Kool Savas.

history

In 2005 the two Hamburgers Mortaza Nawrozzadeh and Naim Akbarzadah traveled to their native Afghanistan. They were last there as children before they fled to Germany with their families. According to their own statements, they founded Visions for Children eV after they returned "affected by the effects of the long war and the poor living conditions of families in Afghanistan" and the learning conditions at the Afghan day school "Kalay Fatullah", which lacked everything necessary. Impressed by the motivation to learn and the courage of the children and teachers, it was immediately clear to them that they had to support the school. Back in Germany, Naim and Mortaza founded Visions for Children eV with friends and fellow students with the vision that all children should have the opportunity to learn basic skills such as reading, writing and arithmetic.

At the beginning the work of the association concentrated on the expansion of the school mentioned and they got involved in the Hamburg refugee and integration aid. But already in the following years the area of activity was expanded and focused primarily on the support of schools in need of help in crisis regions. To date, the association has implemented numerous other educational projects in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Togo and Uganda. At schools in particularly poor and volatile areas, buildings at risk of collapse were renovated, classrooms equipped, teaching aids provided, libraries set up, sanitary facilities built and accompanying hygiene workshops carried out.

In 2017 Visions for Children eV received public funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development for a sanitary project at a school in Kabul.

In 2018, the Hamburg association has around 30 active members from various fields of study and departments, most of whom work for the association on a completely voluntary basis. Since 2018, due to the extremely increased workload and administrative requirements, four members of the core team have been paid marginally, including CEO and architect Hila Limar.
