Vitalia Reformhaus was the largest German health food chain until the beginning of 2010 . Since the company's insolvency, the chain has been operated by Vita Sinn GmbH , which has been called Vitalia GmbH since 2011 . The company is based in Bruckmühl .

history

The Vitalia health food chain was founded in the 1960s by Bernd Büttner. In addition to classic health food stores , whose product range is primarily derived from the idea of life reform , Vitalia organic markets are operated in which, in addition to the health food range, a high proportion of goods from controlled organic production are offered. The range includes items for daily consumption, e.g. whole-grain bread , plant-based foods, gluten-free foods, meat substitutes , non-alcoholic beverages, medicinal herbs , natural remedies , tonics , oils for body care and natural cosmetics .

Vitalia Reformhaus GmbH filed for bankruptcy in October 2009 . Before the bankruptcy, Vitalia Reformhaus GmbH employed up to 800 people in over 120 branches in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Berlin, Saxony, Neubrandenburg and Austria. During the bankruptcy, a number of Vitalia branches were closed and the Austrian branch network was split off.

Since the beginning of 2010, the Vitalia stores in Germany have been operated by Vita Sinn GmbH (now Vitalia GmbH). With around 90 Vitalia branches today, Vitalia GmbH operates most of the health food stores in Germany. The investors are Otto and Peter Greither, who come from the family of the co-founders of the life reform .
