Vittorio Colao (born October 3, 1961 in Brescia ) is an Italian businessman and CEO of Vodafone since 2008 . He has been married since 1992 and currently lives in England with his wife and two children.

Career

The Bocconi University graduate and elite Harvard University began his career at McKinsey , Morgan Stanley and in the publishing business. In the mid-1990s he switched to the mobile communications industry . At the Italian mobile operator Omnitel (now Vodafone Omnitel ) Colao was from 1996 to 1999 COO and then CEO and July 2004. He then moved to the Italian media group RCS MediaGroup and the Allianz group in Italy. From October 2006 Colao was European Head of Vodafone and from July 29, 2008 he became CEO of the company.

Colao's base salary for his work at Vodafone was 932,000 euros in 2009, plus a bonus of 881,000 and other payments, e.g. B. in the form of stock options. In total, salary entitlements for the year amounted to 2,264,000. In 2011 these salary entitlements rose to 14.25 million euros. This made Colao one of the top ten earners in Europe. In 2018 Colao announced his retirement as CEO of Vodafone.
