The Vivaldi Glacier is a glacier on the west coast of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It flows from the Purcell snowfield in a southerly direction between the Colbert Mountains and the Lully Foothills to the head end of Schubert Inlet .
The glacier can be found for the first time on aerial photographs taken during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). The British geographer Derek Searle of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped it in 1960 using aerial photographs taken by the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee first named it the Vivaldi Gap in 1961 . This designation was adapted after evaluating Landsat recordings from 1979. It is named after the Venetian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678–1741).
