Vizcaíno desert
The Vizcaíno Desert is an arid desert on the peninsula Baja California in the Mexican states of Baja California and Baja California Sur . Various cacti grow in the desert. The cacti Cardon Cactus , Candelabra Cactus , Opuntia ficus-indica , Barrel Cactus, Velvet Cactus, Senita Cactus and Cholla Cactus grow in the desert. In addition, the plants and trees of elephant trees , agaves , slipper plants , datilillos , boojumb trees and many more grow in the desert. The desert was named after the Spanish admiral Sebastián Vizcaíno , who explored the area in 1602. Various snakes , lizards , various rodents, and birds also live in the desert .
