The vice-county was inherited by the family of the vice-counts of Limoges in the 12th century and then passed on to a younger line of the family. At the beginning of the 14th century, the vice-county was again inherited by the Chauvigny family. Almost two centuries later, the Chauvigny family died with André III. out.
