The castle Brosse is a former mounting on the territory of the municipality Chaillac , formerly in the county Marche , now in the Indre located southeast of the actual place. In the Middle Ages it was the center of the Brosse vice-county .

The castle was built on a promontory in the 10th century by Géraud, Vice Count of Limoges and husband of Rothilde de Brosse, and burned down by the English during the Hundred Years War .

All that remains of the castle are the round donjon from the 13th century, the towers flanking it, which date from the 15th century, and the surrounding walls , also from the 13th century. The castle was added to the list of historical monuments in 1935 .
