Rivière Etchemin is a right tributary of the Saint Lawrence River in the Chaudière-Appalaches administrative region of the Canadian province of Québec .

The river has its origin in the Monts Notre-Dame , a northern branch of the Appalachian Mountains . From there it flows over a distance of 98 km in a north-westerly direction to the St. Lawrence River, in which it flows west of Lévis on its south bank opposite the city of Québec . The small towns of Saint-Anselme and Saint-Henri , as well as the southern suburbs of the provincial capital Québec, lie on the river .

Its mean discharge is 32 m³ / s. To the west, the 1458 km² catchment area of the Rivière Etchemin borders that of the Rivière Chaudière .
