Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky Medal
The Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky Medal is an award in geosciences, usually awarded annually by the European Geosciences Union (EGU). It is named after the Russian geologist , geochemist and mineralogist Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadski . The first award was in 2003 by the European Geophysical Society (EGS), which was then merged into the EGU.
It is awarded for outstanding contributions to the life sciences in general.
There is also a Vladimir Vernadsky Medal of the Russian Academy of Geosciences, awarded since 1965 .
