MCE GmbH , based in Linz, is a steel construction company that has been part of the Austrian Habau group since April 2016 .

history

The MCE was created through the merger of MAB Anlagenbau Austria GmbH and the former Voest-Alpine MCE. The history of the group began in 1954 with the Rohr- und Heizungsbau GmbH by Karl Bayer. Two years later it was taken over by Mannesmann. In the next few years, many branch offices were established and the business areas expanded. In 1999 the Andlinger Group took over the company.

In 1989, as part of the restructuring of the company, which had grown in the meantime, Voest-Alpine MCE was founded, which was part of VA Technologie AG . In 1990 Hydro Vevey (Switzerland) was bought and in 1997 VAMEC & TMS-France were taken over. In 1998 the company was renamed VA Tech Voest MCE , and the Hydro division was taken over by VA Tech Hydro one year later . In 2001 the Andlinger Group also took over the majority of the plant engineering, industry & personnel services divisions.

The name was later changed to MCE and in 2007 the majority stake was acquired by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG . In 2009, Bilfinger took over MCE, which initially integrated the company into the Bilfinger Berger Industrial Services (BIS Group) subgroup. In the course of its economic difficulties, Bilfinger sold it to Habau in April 2016.
