history

In 1870, Böhler & CO was founded in Vienna by Emil and Albert Böhler . Böhler Welding was converted into a separate division of the newly formed Böhler-Uddeholm in 1991 and took over UTP. In 1996, Böhler-Uddeholm and Thyssen merged their “welding” divisions in the Böhler Thyssen Welding joint venture (Böhler with UTP / Thyssen with Soudokay, Hilarius and Fontargen). In 2003, Böhler-Uddeholm took over 100% of the Böhler Thyssen Welding joint venture . Thyssen Welding Consumables (Thermanit, Phoenix, Union) were renamed to the T-PUT brand in 2004 . In 2005 Böhler-Uddeholm took over Avesta Welding. In 2007 voestalpine took over Böhler-Uddeholm, and the Böhler Thyssen Welding division was renamed the Böhler Welding Group. In 2010 the Böhler Welding Group was transferred from Böhler-Uddeholm to voestalpine Metal Engineering (formerly Railway Systems) as a separate division. 2013 saw the integration into the voestalpine Group (within the Metal Engineering division), as well as the renaming to voestalpine Böhler Welding and the simplification of the product brands to "Böhler Welding", "UTP Maintenance" and "Fontargen Brazing". Since June 2019 voestalpine Böhler Welding has also been offering welding machines under the two product lines TERRA and URANOS.
