Landsort Bird Observatory

Landsorts Fågelstation is an ornithological station on the Swedish archipelago island of Öja . The station is located in the southern part of the narrow island, in Bredmar, near the main settlement Landsort. Bird ringing began on the island in the 1970s, but the association that operates the station today was not founded until 1988.

The island is on the way for seabirds that fly southwest from the Gulf of Finland and pass the island at the southern tip. Siberian birds are mostly observed in October.

Ringing

The nets for the catch are located near the station, a little north of Bredmar. At times, Landsorts fyr on the southern tip of the island is also ringed. It will be ringed from May 1st to June 1st and from September 10th to August 31st.

As with all Swedish stations, the work is entirely voluntary. It is ringed with the rings of the Stockholm Natural History Museum .
