The small Volderer See is located near the Karlskirche on Tiroler Straße and approx. 150 meters before the entrance to Volders . It was originally larger and over time it has lost a large part of its area. Now the lake resembles a larger pond.
The lake with no outflow is mainly fed by the groundwater of the Inn and by rain and has a moderate water quality class of level II-III. This is why algae often form . The lake is surrounded by a small forest with paths to the church or the village.
According to the legend, a giant blocked the inflow of the lake with large rocks. That's why he's gotten smaller.
