Volker Bromm

Volker Bromm is a German astronomer at the University of Texas at Austin .

Bromm completed a Master of Science degree in physics at the University of Heidelberg , and then obtained a doctorate ( PhD ) in astronomy from Yale University in 2000 . Until 2004 he was a postdoc at Cambridge and Harvard. He has been Assistant Professor since 2004 and Tenure Track Associate Professor since 2009 at the University of Austin. In 2014 he was appointed full professor .

His research interests are in the formation of stars and galaxies in the early universe, the reionization epoch , supernovae with high redshifts and gamma-ray flashes as well as the formation of super massive black holes .
