Volker Hempfling

Volker Hempfling (* 1944 in Saarland ) is a German church musician .

Hempfling studied Protestant church music in Herford and Cologne. During his activity as a church musician in Cologne-Kalk , he founded the Cologne Choir in 1968 . From 1972 to 1985 he was the cathedral organist and cantor of the Evangelical Church Community at Altenberg Cathedral . In 1983 Hempfling took over the management of the Gürzenich Choir in Cologne. From 1985 Hempfling taught at the Saarland University of Music. From 1993 to 2003 he was Hartmut Schmidt's successor professor of choral conducting at the Robert Schumann University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf .
