Volker Jänich

Volker Michael Jänich (* 1964 in Hanover ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena .

Life

After graduating from the Helene Lange School in Hanover in 1984 , Jänich began studying law at the University of Osnabrück in the 1984/85 winter semester . There he passed his first state examination in law in November 1989 with a grade of good . He then worked until 1991 as a research assistant at the chair of Hans-Jürgen Ahrens . Parallel to his legal clerkship, which he began in 1991 in the district of the Oldenburg Higher Regional Court , Jänich graduated summa cum laude from Ahrens in June 1993his doctorate as Dr. iur. from. He passed his second state examination in September 1994. He then worked for a short time in a law firm in Osnabrück before taking up a position as a research assistant at the Osnabrück chair of Ahrens on January 1, 1995. There he completed his habilitation in 2000 and received the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, commercial and economic law and civil procedural law.

After a one-semester substitute for a professorship at the University of Jena , he accepted a call to the Gerd Bucerius chair for civil law with German and international industrial property rights in the 2001/02 winter semester, which he has held since then. Since January 2007 he has also been a judge in the second main office at the Thuringian Higher Regional Court in Jena.
