Hans-Jürgen Ahrens

Hans-Jürgen Ahrens (born December 29, 1945 in Bad Bevensen ) is a German legal scholar and former professor at the University of Osnabrück .

Life

Ahrens studied law at the Universities of Göttingen and Tübingen from 1965 until his first state examination in law in 1969 . In 1974 he obtained his doctorate in Göttingen under the supervision of Erwin Deutsch. iur. After legal clerkship and the second state examination, Ahrens took up a position as a research assistant at the German chair and qualified as a professor there in 1981. He received the venia legendi for the subjects of civil law, commercial and economic law, German and international civil procedural law.

Rejecting an offer from the University of Konstanz , Ahrens accepted an offer from the University of Osnabrück to a chair for civil law and civil procedure law in 1983 . He continues to teach there after his retirement. In 1993/94 he was dean of the Osnabrück law faculty, from 2004 to 2011 its dean of studies. From 1995 to 2010 he was also a judge in the second main office in the special senate for corporate law and for general tort law at the Higher Regional Court of Celle . From 2007 to 2013 he was Vice President of the Lower Saxony State Judicial Examination Office. He has been working as a lawyer since his retirement.
