Volker Kier

Volker Kier (born March 2, 1941 in Belgrade ) is an Austrian politician ( LIF ).

After graduating from high school , Volker Kier studied mathematics, contemporary history, law and journalism. During his studies he was involved in the ring of freedom students .

As part of the Atterseekreis , an association of liberal -minded students in the run-up to the FPÖ , which was controversial among German - nationally -minded party officials, he worked with Friedhelm Frischenschlager and Heide Schmidt to develop concepts on how the FPÖ could be made a liberal party. With the election of Jörg Haider as FPÖ chairman, Kier resigned from the FPÖ in 1986. From 1994 to 1999 he was a member of the Liberal Forum in Parliament and most recently held the position of deputy chairwoman of the club.

Today Kier advises companies and teaches at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz .
