Volker Neuhaus

Volker Neuhaus (born September 8, 1943 in Breslau ) is a German Germanist and professor emeritus for Modern Germans and Comparative Literature at the Institute for German Language and Literature at the University of Cologne . Today he lives in Osnabrück.

Neuhaus studied German, Protestant theology and comparative literature in Bonn and Zurich from 1962 to 1968 and graduated in 1967 with the state examination. In 1968 the doctorate followed, in 1975 the habilitation. From 1968 to 1977 he was first a speaker, then department head for literature and fine arts at the cultural group of the Federal Association of German Industry eV (BDI) . From 1977 until his retirement in 2008 he taught as a professor for German literature at the University of Cologne . As a lecturer he continues to teach (status: summer semester 2018) at the University of Osnabrück .

Volker Neuhaus was chairman of the Goethe Society. V. (Cologne).

Main areas of activity

The focus of the academic work of Volker Neuhaus includes the study of the works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Günter Grass , whose editions Neuhaus publishes, as well as research into detective novels. From 1986 to 2005 he was editor of DuMont's crime library .
