Volkhard Uhlig

Volkhard Uhlig (born September 27, 1941 ) is a former German national basketball player from Halle (Saale) and a basketball official.

Volkhard Uhlig is the older brother of the DBB national player Helmut Uhlig , captain of the VfL Osnabrück master team , was the record national player of the German Basketball Association (168 international matches) in the GDR and was considered the best player there in his time.

Volkard Uhlig took part in the FIBA ​​European Championships with the GDR national team in 1959, 1961, 1963 and 1967 (in Istanbul / Turkey , Belgrade / Yugoslavia , Breslau / Poland as well as Helsinki and Tampere / Finland ). - In Istanbul he was the youngest participant in the FIBA ​​tournament.

In 1971 he received his doctorate from the University of Halle.

In 1989 he became the last president of the DBV in the GDR, then a member of the DBB executive committee in November 1990 and later until 2007 managing director of the trainer academy. In 2008 he was made an honorary member of the DBB.
