Volkmar Küntscher

Volkmar Küntscher (born September 5, 1939 in Dresden ; † February 2, 2005 ) was a German engineer who was considered one of the most famous engine experts in the GDR.

Küntscher studied at the TU Dresden . During his assistantship at the Chair of Automotive Technology and Internal Combustion Engines, he wrote his dissertation, The Influence of Intake Manifolds on the Air Ratio in Two-Stroke Gasoline Engines with Carburettors , with which he received his doctorate in 1969 . Several activities in industry followed. After successfully completing his PhD B , in 1978 he was appointed professor for automotive engines at the Zwickau Engineering University , from which the Zwickau Technical University later emerged. He was temporarily head of the automotive technology section. From 1992 he was also Senior Vice President and Technical Director of Deutsche ABB AG Mannheim .

Küntscher mainly dealt with the electronically controlled fuel metering, with which the mixture formation and combustion should be improved. He was the author of the textbook automotive engines. Design and construction , which is now in its fourth edition, as well as numerous other publications.
