The Volksbank has its origins in 1902. At that time, some merchants founded the “Credit-Casse” as a company with unlimited liability, with the main area of responsibility for lending to small businesses, bills of exchange and bank transfers. After the First World War and the inflation, the Credit-Casse, which was now called “Creditbank eGmbH”, and the Volksbank merged to form “Bankverein eGmbH”. Due to a general ordinance, this name had to be changed to "Volksbank Pfullendorf eGmbH" on July 1, 1944. Since an amendment to § 3 of the Cooperative Society Act came into force on January 1, 1974, the bank has been operating under the name “Volksbank Pfullendorf eG”.
