The history of Volksbank Sprockhövel eG goes back to 1964, when the Spar- und Kreditskasse eGmbH was founded. She took over the financial affairs of the former "Warengenossenschaft und Spar- und Kreditskasse eGmbH Sprockhövel". The branch in Herbede was opened as early as 1965. In 1976, the name was changed from Spar- und Autovermietung eGmbH to Volksbank Sprockhövel eG . With the takeover of Volksbank Hattingen as part of the merger, the other locations in Hattingen, Linden and Langenberg were added in 1981.
