history
In Worpswede, the adult education center began in 1972 under the direction of the administrative employee Hanns Koch (1928–1986) as part of his work as managing director of the tourist association in the Philine-Vogeler-Haus. The council of the community Lilienthal decided on July 9, 1973 the statutes for a community adult education center and in 1974 appointed the teacher Horst Vockenroth (1933-1992) as its director. In 1975, Volkshochschule work in Grasberg was carried out by a group of committed citizens in 1975, which the Bremen lawyer Hans-Jörg Niebergall (* 1947), who lived in Worpswede, was responsible for.
The Ritterhude adult education center was added on August 23, 2001. It had already been founded on February 1, 1965 and was under the honorary direction of Klaus Stracke (* 1941), the rector of the former Carl Diem elementary school in Ritterhude.
The adult education center Lilienthal-Grasberg-Ritterhude-Worpswede emerged from the working group of the three adult education centers, which was founded on December 19, 1978. It led to their merger on February 1, 1981, and on the same day the teacher Harald Paul (1933–2012) took over the full-time management until 1997. Since then it has been the responsibility of the linguist Christine Beulshausen.
