Elementary school Marbach an der Donau
The elementary school Marbach an der Donau is located in the market town of Marbach an der Donau in the Melk district in Lower Austria . The elementary school is a listed building .
history
The walls of the former bulk box from the late 15th century were integrated into the new primary school. The school was built in 1913/1914 as a monastery school for boys according to the plans of the architect Clemens Holzmeister (first work). In 1971 the market town took over the school as a primary school and thus taught girls and boys together. The facade was restored in 1977 under the supervision of Clemens Holzmeister. The school was damaged in the floods in Central Europe in 2002 . In 2014 for the 100th anniversary, the school was expanded with a modern extension according to the plans of the architects Georg Bauer and Walter Brandhofer, and the old building was also made barrier-free .
architecture
The asymmetrical three-story voluminous structure has large, multiple-subdivided windows. The extension on a neighboring property was connected to the old building with a glazed connecting building.
