The Way of the Cross begins in Marbach an der Donau with a long staircase, which is lined with relief panels by Heribert Rath from 1962 at individual stations, and continues in Maria Taferl .

The parish church of St. Martin , slightly elevated in the west of the village in front of a steep rock face, is separated from the old market street by a wall in the south. It has a wide, short nave from the 19th century with a Gothic choir and south tower. Its structure is unstructured and unified. The nave is opened by arched windows and covered by a hipped roof, the ridge of which is oriented in a north-south direction. The Gothic tower changes from a square floor plan into an octagon and is crowned by an onion helmet. The late 14th century choir is as high as the nave and as wide as the central nave . At the end of the choir there is a chapel niche from 1720 between two buttresses . The sacristy is connected to the south of the choir .

The former manor house was built in 1575, belonged to the Persenbeug estate from 1816 to 1972 and served as a girls' school from 1867 to 1971. The two-storey building block is covered by a hipped roof and has round corner towers with conical roofs on the Danube side. The upper floor is opened by windows with grooved sills from the second half of the 16th century. The three-axis Danube facade shows remains of frescoes as well as late Baroque window baskets with mesh grids on the ground floor. The five-axis facade facing Marktstrasse has ground floor windows of different sizes and a small mural of the Holy Family with the Trinity from the 19th century.

The town hall of Marbach shows a slightly protruding, broad structure with an attic floor attached in 1930 and a market coat of arms in the gable field. The core of the building dates from the second half of the 16th century. The building underwent major changes in the 19th and 20th centuries. The staircase has a needle cap barrel and flat decor. The square meeting room has a groined vault with decor as in the staircase and four stuccoed masks from the last quarter of the 16th century. The office has a stucco ceiling from 1720/1730. The furnishings include a canvas painting from the 18th or 19th century showing Marbach before the fire of 1677.

The elementary school in Marbach is an asymmetrical, three-storey, voluminous building with large, multiple windows. It was built using the walls of a bulk box from the late 15th century in 1913/1914 as the first work of the architect Clemens Holzmeister and restored in 1977 under the supervision of Holzmeister.

The pillory on the Ländeplatz is a three-storey granite pillar with a diamond pattern and a crowning pyramid top. It was mentioned in a document for the first time in 1629. The time of construction is assumed to be around 1600.

The rectory of Marbach - a symmetrical, seven-axis building with a hipped roof - is marked 1877 above the central portal. The facade shows grooves on the ground floor and profiled window frames on the upper floor. The furnishings include a figure of grace Maria Taferl and two canvas paintings of Saints Peter and Paul from the first half of the 18th century.
