The castle, first mentioned in a document in 1242, was transformed into a Renaissance castle by Christoph II von Losenstein from around 1540. The dungeon and the northern part of the town walls were demolished and three wings around the large courtyard built. From 1570 to approx. 1600 the corner towers in the northwest and northeast, the arcades in the large courtyard, the kennel as well as the gate buildings and the garden, the striking eight-story tower at the end of the 16th century. The former palace from the end of the 11th to the middle of the 12th century was used as a warehouse in the 17th century and subsequently fell into disrepair.

The local mountain Stefring was the seat of the Lords of Steuenugin (documented 1136–1241), probably also the location of the demolished church in Werde (documented mentioning 1260). The complex had a triple curtain wall .

The table is sorted alphabetically according to the location of the monument. The sorting criterion is the cadastral municipality and within this the address.
