The results of the census in Bosnia and Herzegovina of April 22, 1895 were published by the Austro-Hungarian government in Sarajevo in 1896 .

This third census since Austria-Hungary took over the administration of the country in Bosnia and Herzegovina , which was formally still part of the Ottoman Empire , had a dual purpose. On the one hand, it should provide the basis for simplifying administration and, on the other hand, it should satisfy the interests of scientific and other circles.
