history

The Volleyteam Roadrunners Vienna was founded in 2001 as the volleyball club Mighty Roadrunners (VSV Mighty Roadrunners or VSVMR) in Vienna and took part in the championship of the Vienna Volleyball Association (WVV) for the first time in the 2002/03 season. Together with the volleyball team Roadrunners Ebreichsdorf in Lower Austria, the clubs have been appearing under the common name Volleyteam Roadrunners since 2012.

Part of the club goes back to the Volley-Team-Wien (VT Wien or VTW for short). VT Vienna was founded in 2004 as a collaboration between ASTRA , Sportunion Transdanubien and Union Aktiv Brigittenau . This collaboration began in the 2004/2005 season, when the teams played in the championship under their home club name. From the 2005/2006 season, the first women's teams took part in the championship of the Vienna Volleyball Association (WVV) under the name of VT Wien. In May 2011 the VT Vienna and the VSVMR (volleyball club Mighty Roadrunners) merged. From the 2011/12 season, the VTR Vienna syndicate had joint management and teams. In 2015, VT Vienna was dissolved by resolution of the General Assembly.
