Volley Bergamo is an Italian women's volleyball club from Bergamo , which plays in the first Italian league (Serie A1) and in the Champions League .

history

The club was founded in 1991 as Volley Club Bergamo and started in the 1991/92 season in the B1 series, where it finished sixth in its first season. In the following year Bergamo managed to move up to the second highest division (Serie A2) in order to be promoted to the top division of the Italian league (Serie A1) the next year. In the 1995/96 season Bergamo became Italian champions for the first time and also won the Italian Cup for the first time. Since 1996, Bergamo has been champion eight times and cup and super cup winners six times each.

The team achieved their first major international success in 1997 when they won the Champions League . The club has been able to repeat this success six times so far. They also won the CEV Cup in 2004 .

In addition to numerous international top players such as Irina Kirillowa , Mireya Luis or Marlenis Costa , the German national players Angelina Grün (2003–2008) and Christiane Fürst (2009–2010) also played for Foppapedretti Bergamo.

From 1992 to 2018 the women started as Foppapedretti Bergamo and since then as Zanetti Bergamo .
