history

In 1909, the Swabian inventor Heinrich Vollmer , who came from Altdorf near Nürtingen, constructed an apparatus for setting up saws and in the same year founded the Vollmer factory in Biberach an der Riss, initially in Ebingen and from 1910 onwards. Grinding, filing and setting machines for saw blade manufacture are manufactured there.

In 1927 he received a patent for the Vollmer-MPi , a forerunner of the Erma EMP and the later standard submachine gun of the Wehrmacht, the submachine gun 38 and 40.

In 1952 the company developed a special program of sharpening machines for the upcoming carbide-tipped circular saw blades. This business area gained an important role in the following decades due to constant new and further developments. In 1988 the company developed a range of machines for eroding diamond-tipped tools for the woodworking industry. In 1998 the company presented a new wire EDM machine and entered the metal processing industry with this technology.

In 2006 the company took over Loroch GmbH in Mörlenbach, with which a sales cooperation had existed since 1994, and thus expanded the product portfolio to include sharpening machines for processing HSS- tipped circular saw blades.

In 2009, the company inaugurated a technology and service center.
