Solid board

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Solid cardboard stands for all solid cardboard that is single-ply, multi-ply (couched) or multi-ply (glued). The basis weight of solid board ranges from around 500 to 3000 g / m². With the designation as solid board, the density and the homogeneous structure of this packaging material are aptly described. Solid board is usually made from several layers, with up to 100 percent of the mass consisting of recycled fiber mass, i.e. recycled waste paper .

Recovered paper is the most important raw material in the manufacture of solid board. The different types of solid cardboard are made from 100 percent recycled fiber materials (secondary raw materials). Solid board and packaging made from solid board go through an almost closed recycling and life cycle.

In 2015, the market share of solid cardboard packaging in Germany was around 8.7 percent.

Advantages of solid board

  • Wide range: can be produced individually and as required. For example displays, outer packaging, transport packaging, shipping packaging.
  • Use: Flat, erect or cut to size, solid cardboard packaging can be used quickly, conveniently and effectively at any time.
  • Equipment: grease barriers, advertising design and printing.
  • Moisture Resistant: Perfect for products in refrigerated, frozen and humid conditions.
  • Cost-benefit efficiency: price-conscious production , automated processes, machine packing.
  • High runnability on processing lines.
  • Robust, stable and space-saving: Solid cardboard is a solid and resilient packaging material that is particularly compact because moist fibers are pressed during production - creating a dense layer layer by layer. The thickness of the solid board tells you how dense and stable the material is. In addition, the packaging is delivered flat and can be stored until it is used, which saves storage space.

sustainability

Solid cardboard and packaging made from solid cardboard cover the ecological guiding principles of sustainability , resource conservation and the raw material cycle.

These are produced 100% from waste paper that was collected in trade, industry, administration and households.

These fibers are reused up to six times. So that these are not shortened significantly, they are repeatedly mixed with newer waste paper. This counteracts any deterioration in quality.

Solid board thus runs through an almost closed material cycle.

Recycling makes a significant contribution to the sustainability of the paper cycle.

Solid cardboard packaging

To produce solid cardboard packaging , the solid cardboard sheets are first printed. The packaging blank gets its shape through punching, creasing, scoring, perforating and embossing. The box walls are linked by gluing, wire stitching, plug connections or folding and clamping connections. These are used in different constructions for a wide variety of goods.

Application of solid board

  • Packaging such as vegetable crates, trays, gift packaging , sales and food packaging
  • Industrial applications, such as intermediate layers, sleeves, robust shipping packaging
  • Graphic applications such as board games , advertising displays, luxury packaging, books

80% of the solid board is used in the food industry.
