The law enforcement center Klosterfiechten (FACH) is an institution of the Canton of Basel-Stadt for open and alternative penalties and measures enforcement . It is located on the outskirts of the city of Basel on the Bruderholz .

The prison center is subordinate to the prison department in the Justice and Security Department of Basel-Stadt. The employees in the two areas of inpatient and outpatient prison work on an interdisciplinary basis with external institutions and authorities. history
In 1850 a farmhouse was built “in Klosterfiechten on the Bruderholz”, the former property of the Steinen Monastery. In 1856 the estate, which is located on the outskirts of Basel, was sold to the Society for the Promotion of the Good and Charitable . The “Arbeitsanstalt Klosterfiechten” was created to fight poverty through job creation. In 1892, the canton of Basel-Stadt acquired the entire property and opened the “rescue facility for the care of neglected children and juvenile offenders”.
In 1912 the institution was subordinated to the Department of Justice, soon afterwards the name was changed from "Rescue Institution" to "Educational Home", at the beginning of the 1970s finally to "School Home", which is indicative of the constant development of the educational concept. In 1987 the Basel government closed the school home. The main building, which was originally intended as a farmhouse, has since been used mainly for the penal system and probation services. In addition, the Education Department of the Canton of Basel-Stadt operates a dormitory and a day center for mentally and multiply disabled people on the Klosterfiechten grounds. The canton has leased the farm with horse ranch.
