Voodoo Chile

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Voodoo Chile is a blues rock song by Jimi Hendrix , which he recorded for the third album with his band "Jimi Hendrix Experience", Electric Ladyland , in 1968. The song is loosely based on the blues song Rollin 'Stone by Muddy Waters . At over 15 minutes, it is the longest studio recording Hendrix ever made.

Voodoo Chile was recorded at Record Plant in New York City on May 2, 1968 , after a late jam session with Hendrix, drummer Mitch Mitchell , organist Steve Winwood, and bassist Jack Casady . The song was further developed in the studio the following day, resulting in Voodoo Child (Slight Return) , one of Jimi Hendrix's most famous songs.

"Chile" is a sloppy pronunciation of the English word "child" ( child ). In England, Voodoo Chile was also used as the title for the 1970 single with the song Voodoo Child (Slight Return) , which often confuses the two songs.
