Vorrade is the city district No. 16 in the district No. 2 St. Jürgen of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck .

Vorrade borders in the south on the district of Wulfsdorf, in the north on Schiereichenkoppel, in the east on Strecknitz and in the west on Niederbüssau.

In May 2006, the Karkbrede was comprehensively renovated as the main access road to Vorrade. From August 2006, the Lisa-Dräger -Weg was re-established as a connection between Vorrade and Gut Mönkhof, making the Bornkamp residential area and the university district accessible to cyclists and pedestrians by the shortest route.

history

From 1287 Vorrade belonged to the chapter villages of the Lübeck cathedral chapter. In the course of the secularization of ecclesiastical property after the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803, Vorrade passed into Lübeck ownership in 1804 and was finally incorporated into Lübeck on May 1, 1935.

Martha Frahm , married Kuhlmann, lived in Vorrade . She was the mother of the German Chancellor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Willy Brandt , who used to visit his mother and stepfather there with his wife Rut and their sons.
