The votive picture of Archbishop Johann Očko von Wlaschim is one of the most important Gothic pictures of the 14th century . It was created around 1370 by order of the Prague Archbishop Johann Očko von Wlaschim . The painter is unknown. His style represents an intermediate stage between the work of the master Theodoric of Prague and the work of the master of Wittingau . The picture is now in the collection of the National Gallery in the Agnes Monastery in Prague's old town .
history
The picture served as an altarpiece for the chapel of the Episcopal Raudnitz Castle , consecrated in 1371, in Raudnitz an der Elbe . It must have been created before the year 1378, because in that year Emperor Karl IV died - pictured in the picture - and Johann Ocko von Wlaschim - pictured as archbishop - was taken over by Pope Urban VI. appointed cardinal.
