Vranica is a massif of the Dinaric Mountains and is located about 10 kilometers west of Fojnica . The highest mountain peak, Nadkrstac, is the third highest point in Bosnia and Herzegovina at 2112  m above sea level .

In summer, the massif is mainly visited by shepherds and weekend tourists. The glacial lake Prokoško jezero is located near the Sarajevska vrata mountain pass .

No permits are required for climbing and camping in this area. However, there is still a high risk of landmines in some areas .
