Vytautas Misskinis

Vytautas Miškinis (born June 5, 1954 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian choir director and composer .

Life

Miškinis studied choral conducting at the Lithuanian State Conservatory from 1971–1976 . 1975–1979 he directed the Kaunas State Choir . 1971–1979 he was choir director and from 1979 also artistic director of the boys and men choir Knžuoliukas in Vilnius, where he himself began his musical career at the age of seven. Miškinis has been teaching at the Lithuanian Music and Theater Academy since 1985, where he has been professor of choral conducting since 2002. He is also President of the Lithuanian Choir Association and since 1995 artistic director and first choir director of the Lithuanian Song Festival .

As a composer he created 14 masses , around 150 religious motets and litanies and around 350 secular songs - including many works for children's choirs. Today his works are part of the repertoire of many choirs around the world.
