Vytautas Mikalauskas (musician)

Vytautas Mikalauskas (born October 20, 1930 in Panevėžys , † April 23, 2004 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian composer and pianist .

Life

Mikalauskas graduated twice from the Lietuvos konservatorija : in 1954 the piano class with Stasys Vainiūnas and in 1973 composition with Eduardas Balsys . From 1954 to 1973 he taught at the Panevėžys Music School and was director from 1961 to 1965. From 1972 to 1973 he taught in the Biržai Music School , from 1973 to 2000 in Karoliniškės (until 1993: 5th Children's Music School in Vilnius) as a teacher, from 1995 as a senior teacher. He had concerts as a soloist and with ensembles. He composed 300 works.

The Panevėžys Art School was named after him .
