A selector star switch ( WStSch ) is a dialing device of the old analog telephone network that was located outside the exchange . In the case of existing bottlenecks in the local access network, it was used for multiple use of twin wires in the main cables (part of the subscriber line ).

Selector star switches were installed in cable distributors and were connected via several main lines to the exchange in which the associated selector star transmission was located. The power supply of the selector star switch came from the exchange. Each connected to a line concentrator participants had its own telephone number and the participants were able to, as opposed to participants in Community switches call each other.
