Würzburg Cathedral Treasure
The Würzburg Cathedral Treasure comprises valuable, artfully crafted ( liturgical ) objects that were used in the Würzburg Cathedral from the 11th to the 20th century .
The permanent exhibition is located in the Marmelsteiner Hof . Episcopal insignia, vessels, vestments, grave goods, embroidered textiles, paintings, sculptures and goldsmiths are presented.
The collection
The cathedral treasure includes objects from the following areas:
- Parts of the cathedral furnishings that were recovered damaged after the bombing in March 1945
- Paintings and fittings that show the changes in the cathedral interior over the centuries
- Grave goods from the bishops' graves
- Liturgical objects and vestments
- Bishop's insignia, bishop swords from the time of the prince-bishops
- Crosses
- Reliquaries
- Coat of arms calendar of the Würzburg cathedral monastery
- Sculptures
