Desert Church Berkenlatten
The desert church Berkenlatten is a church ruin in the village of Berkenlatten in Brandenburg, which belongs to the municipality of Gerswalde, north of the village immediately west of the road to Gerswalde.
Architecture and history
It was built in the second half of the 13th century as the village church of the village of Bischofshagen ( Byscoppeshagen ), which had already become desolate in the Middle Ages, in the early Gothic style . The gable ends of the hall, which was built from field stones on a rectangular floor plan, have been preserved. There are three staggered window openings in the east gable. The side walls are also partially preserved.
The church ruins are surrounded by a cemetery that is still currently used for burials.
