Desert Church Berkenlatten

Berkenlatten is a part of the municipality of Gerswalde in Brandenburg .

The small village is south of Gerswalde and has 21 inhabitants (as of 2006).

history

Berkenlatten was laid out in 1607 by the von Arnim family as a farm in the field of the village of Bischofshagen , which had become desolate around 1450 . At the same time, the nearby village of Böckenberg was built . In the Thirty Years' War Berke slats was destroyed.

Facilities

To the north of the village is the Berkenlatten desert church , a church ruin that goes back to the former village of Bischofshagen. Berkenlatten is known for the ostrich farm Berkenlatten, which has been located here since 2002 .
