Władysław Podkowiński
Władysław Podkowiński alias Andrzej Ansgary (born February 4, 1866 in Warsaw , † January 5, 1895 ibid) was a Polish painter and draftsman .
Life
Podkowiński studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw a . a. with Wojciech Gerson and Antoni Kamieński , then at the St. Petersburg Academy. After spending a year in Paris, he approached Impressionism and is seen as a forerunner of Polish Impressionism, which turned into symbolism towards the end of his life . He mainly painted landscapes, portraits and symbolic pictures. His best-known painting is “Szał uniesień” (“In the Delusion of Delight”) in the National Museum in Krakow .
