Wojciech Gerson
Wojciech Gerson (born July 1, 1831 in Warsaw ; † February 25, 1901 there ) was a Polish painter and art professor.
Life
Gerson studied art at the Warsaw and Saint Petersburg Academy of Art and then in Paris with Léon Cogniet .
In 1858 he returned to Warsaw and became an art teacher. Among his students: Kazimierz Alchimowicz , Anna Bilińska , Ludomir Benedyktowicz , Józef Chełmoński , Wacław Chodkowski , Eligiusz Niewiadomski , Władysław Podkowiński , Jan Stanisławski , Władysław Ślewiński , Józef Pankiewicz , Alfred Kowalski and Leon Wyczółkowski .
Gerson mainly painted city and mountain landscapes as well as history paintings .
Wojciech Gerson was elected chairman of the Church College of the Evangelical-Augsburg Trinity Church in Warsaw from 1898–1901 . He was buried in the Warsaw Evangelical-Augsburg Cemetery .
