The W. Zuckschwerdt Verlag is a German specialist publisher of medicine and science , based in Munich . The program of the independent company includes specialist literature for doctors, nurses and other health professions as well as advice for patients. Magazines and books are published in electronic and printed form as well as apps and websites.

Technical literature and advice

While the focus of the specialist program is in the area of oncology / hematology , the advisory program is more diverse. Written by doctors, the patient guides offer information on numerous diagnoses, for example from internal medicine, neurology or orthopedics. These include B. A large part of the more than 1000 published specialist books and guides can be obtained as e-books in addition to the print edition. The publisher cooperates with medical centers and specialist societies such as the Munich Tumor Center, the Gynecological Oncology Working Group (AGO), a working group of the German Cancer Society, and the German Cancer Society itself.

Magazines

From 1998 to 2018 the publisher was in charge of the "Münchner Ärztliche Advertisements", which appear every fortnight with a circulation of 19,000 copies. The publisher is the Medical District and District Association of Munich (ÄKBV).

In 2011 the organ “ Oncological Care ” was founded, which as a quarterly magazine aims to promote care in oncological care. In cooperation with the Oncological Nursing and Children's Nursing Conference, a working group of the German Cancer Society, current topics, practice-relevant reports and advanced training work are published.

history

The publishing house, which has existed since 1979, was founded by Werner Zuckschwerdt in Munich, and in 1995 the company's headquarters were relocated to the neighboring Germering. In 2019 the publisher moved back to Munich. In 2017 the publisher Jörg Meidenbauer took over the company, which he has been running since then. While the publisher mainly published medical-scientific literature in the first few years, a guide program has also been set up since 2005, which is aimed at patients and readers interested in medicine.
