WAP binary XML
WAP Binary XML ( WBXML ) is a standardized binary representation of XML . The primary goal is data compression for narrow-band Internet lines, especially in cellular communications.
WBXML was developed by the WAP forum and is now being continued by the Open Mobile Alliance . It is an extension of the wireless application protocol standards of the W3C . It is used in almost every mobile phone . Examples are SyncML and Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync protocol for the synchronization of e-mails, address and calendar data , the wireless markup language , the instant messaging protocol IMPS , OMA DRM and over-the-air configurations.
