WHIO (AM) is a radio station based in Dayton , Ohio . It belongs to Cox Enterprises and broadcasts a news / talk format on medium wave 1290 kHz .

The program consists of acquisitions of Fox News Radio , the Westwood One Network and Premiere Networks .

The studios are located at 1611 South Main Street in Dayton along with the company's other broadcasters: WHIT-FM, WHIO-WHKO, WZLR, Channel 7 WHIO-TV and the Dayton Daily News at the Cox Media Center. Cox Radio owns a number of stations in the Dayton radio market.

In 2014 WHIO received two Emmy Awards in different categories.
